How wonderful. Congratulations. Thank you for your courage and compassionate heart. This is an amazing victory on behalf of all those suffering animals.
Absolutely amazing! Throughout the entire week of the trial I felt like I had "beer bonged" 6 kegs of coffee. Even though I was hundreds of miles away and basically looking through a keyhole (webex) the tension was palpable, some moments had me shaking so bad one might've thought I was some polar punk watching from a frozen tundra. Even now I am somewhat ecstatically numb. The way you folks navigated the obstacles was masterful! Despite the prosecution's non-stop nit-picky objections and the severe limitations to presenting the most pertinent info there were still a number of "Arsenio Hall style fist-pump" moments thanks to you, Mary, and your teams! I also would like to express deep admiration and appreciation to the jury. The state, US government, and Smithfield Foods (WH Group) thought if you were not going to think the way they wanted you to they'd just not let you think at all by denying you access to the most important evidence in this case. Thank you for seeing past their nonsense. Thank you for your compassion and understanding. You truly did help make this world a tad bit better!
I also, in my various inspired ramblings within the comment section of this blog I got some facts wrong about this case. I think a number of DxE cases got jumbled in my head, I should've made myself certain before impulsively excreting various observations and philosophies. Forgive my ignorance. So many atrocities to keep abreast of in this world. Thank you, Paul, Mary, the legal teams, DxE and their supporters for the sliver of light that the results of your work (& jury) has shined!
With absolute sincerity...Much love and mad respect!!!
Wayne, I was only able to watch a small amount of the trial, but had more than enough time to witness the blatant bias of the judge. It’s really a good thing I had no microphone on, or I would have been in major contempt of court! I was tuned in during your closing argument, which I found to be totally brilliant!! I was holding my breath during deliberations, but honestly couldn’t conceive of a different outcome. In my opinion, the only thing the prosecution succeeded in doing was to make a total mockery out of our judicial system, and a complete ass of themselves!
I was soooooo happy to hear you won! Rescuing is not stealing and the jury actually GOT it! Finally! And it's about time too. Thank you for all your amazing and ground-breaking animal rescue work! And I love your writing as well. This world needs way more angels on Earth for the animals - just like YOU! God bless you and please , keep up the incredible work you do too!
A huge congrats to you and your team, Wayne! As a recovering attorney, I was worried that you didn't have legal counsel, but happy you did. So happy for you and the movement!
I am still in shock about the verdict, but so glad you and Paul free. #RightToRescue #SmithfieldTrial
I was wondering if there is any chance your speaking event in Denver will be viewable online?
Here is the link to Wayne's speaking event at the University of Denver, Animal Law Program.
