After emailing and phoning DA Gruenke for several days, I spoke with him directly today. I remained polite and civil throughout our conversation, urging him to protect the tortured beagle pups at Ridglan. Gruenke belligerently informed me that he was conducting a private investigation, that I was believing all the lies Online, and that I knew nothing. He was quite angry, accused me of insulting him (which I didn’t), complained that he was getting death threats on the phone and by email and told me not to call him again. I will continue to phone his office and email him and told him so. Then I ended the call.
'Private' .... I bet a few of this DA's law school classmates could be enlisted to testify that this attitude toward the public record of trial outcomes is not the law practice they learned there. The 'private' here is a particular county's wholesale corruption up to the top by a terribly abusive profiteering corporation.
I believe that our willingness to fight back as a movement is reflective of a broader willingness throughout the country to fight the expanding fascism we face. We are three generations away from world war 2 and we are learning again that freedom is not free whether for ourselves or the other animals. Perhaps it took this forest fire to wake us up to all these issues, whether they be animal exploitation, deportations, or the earth which sustains us.
They're denying her plain truth because they want her to profess their 'alternate facts'. This is what the Trump administration has tried to do with Universities. The prosecutors and judge in Zoë's trial most of all don't want to admit all the things they've neglected doing in the recent and distant past in their own lives. They don't want her truth to stand vis à vis their county/state corruption and decay. They don't want to have to dodge her standing truth more and more in the future, or admit their corruption and face disapproval in their social professional lives.
