People and ideas always change and grow. Change can feel strange, no matter how gradually it happens, but that can be a good thing. Thank you, Wayne, and everyone that started Direct Action Everywhere. Thank you to everyone that is currently working for or with DxE and fighting for animal animal rights and animal liberation. And thank you to everyone that supports the new organization, The Simple Heart Initiative, and wants to help to build the movement for open rescue. I am proud to be part of The Simple Heart Initiative and DxE.
Wayne, thanks for sharing your process. I think you're doing the right thing as well. You have new vistas to explore and new accomplishments to attain. I'll be following you.
I've been an animal activists since the '70's. Doing demonstrations, protests, joining rallies, tabling, seeing fellow activists doing civil disobedience, and getting arrested for trivial reasons. I was involved with the SHAC campaign via Win Animal Rights, a very effective, well-organized group in New York City. Now I'm a retired senior no longer living in New York, but Arizona. I have no public transportation system. So I concentrate on posting online FOR THE ANIMALS, even if it means offending people!
I knew Cleveland Amory of the Fund for Animals and Henry Spira, an American activist for socialism and animal rights, who is regarded by some as one of the most effective animal advocates of the 20th century; and the late Professor Tom Regan, author of "The Case for Animal Rights." I met animal-activists who served time in prison for Animal Liberation Front actions, like Rod Coronado. And many other "old timers" in the movement. I'm glad to see a new generation of younger, sincere activists continuing the struggle for Animal Liberation, including challenging the most obnoxious prejudice of all: SPECIESISM.
I will continue to follow you at The Simple Heart. And supporting Direct Action Everywhere.
