My heart breaks for Rose and all the other activists who risk their freedom and lives. But Rose and her compatriots engaged in nonviolent actions. The Palestinian activists who attacked the factory almost killed a police officer who now has to live with a fractured spine. Animal rights activists are almost always peaceful and do not engage in violence. The pro Hamas activists not so much. Please dig deeper before you compare Rose’s courageous actions to the actions that almost killed a police officer.
They are handing out harsh sentences not because they fit the crimes, but because they are trying to defend an industry that is losing ground in public opinion. Animal rights activists are their arch enemy and they are gaining the upper hand.

They targeted your wife to hurt you because this is a political battle to save and protect animals from big industry. I will sign any petition in your favor. I have signed countless letters and petitions to protect animals.
Rose is an accomplished activist in her own right, so I don’t necessarily think they targeted her because of Wayne’s activism. Regardless, the industry is scared of us so they’re trying any repression that they can.
Wayne, your courage and that of Rose will inspire others. This inspiration may be to take the kinds of direct action that you both do. It may be to go vegan, write letters, buy differently, vote differently or donate differently than before they had this awareness. You and I have spoken of this, Wayne. I support you and I look forward to meeting Rose someday.
I was very happy to read that they got no jail time, but rescuing animals should not be a crime at all. Rose, Rosa, and Sarah should be celebrated, not punished.
Are you not afraid that when dogs and cats are permanently excluded from these experiments, they will simply be replaced by other animals, such as monkeys, rabbits, or other animals less visible and less appreciated than dogs and cats due to their status as pets in everyone's homes?
I think the abolishment of experiments on companion animals will force the pharmaceutical industry to use human-relevant methods. Once they deploy organoids, organs-on-chips, quantum computing, and AI, they’ll get better data, and using any kind of animal will be de-incentivized. They’ll save money, and drug development time will decrease.
The world is full of signals. Was it 'symbolism and sacrifice' that brought you and your wife together to begin with, or the being alive to signals of human and sentient signals of fellowship? Compare that to the signals being harkened to by the organizers of things like Marshall Biosciences in the last several centuries-- https://industryweek.com/article/55407167/add-certainty-to-manufacturings-wish-list-so-that-happened .

Thank you Bonnie for stating what so many choose to ignore, the difference between violent and nonviolent activism.

Thank you Larry! I hope we can get Rose in the country someday....
We still have a long way to go. I did read on the BBC that she will not go to prison.
They were each sentenced to a 12-month community order of 150 hours of unpaid work, and they must each pay £250 towards prosecution costs.
