What a beautiful post. You are so brave, gentle and kind. You are the last person on the planet who should be in jail, even for a second. Much good luck to you as you continue your fight.
I just lost my beloved dog, yesterday. I had him for over 14 years of his 15 year life. He had the sweetest soul of any creature I've ever come in contact with. I love him so much and I can only hope he knew how much he was loved.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Joan. It's impossible to capture how much they mean to us. But I'm sure, even from the words you've shared, that he knew he was loved.
Take care of yourself. The pain is so recent and new. I think he would want you to do something that will help you heal. Make sure to do that!
Thank you so much for your gentle words, Wayne. A dog's love is so pure and true and they fully trust you with their care. Yesterday, a friend and I took a walk through a metro park and spent a good part of the day out in the sun and away from the city—it seemed to help. I'll be writing a reflective post on my newsletter soon, since my boy Bocci was my "crack research assistant" for my newsletter.
Yes, kindness can be found everywhere and it can be sparked in (almost) everyone. I believe kindness is human nature but sadly, those who have lost touch with their nature have distanced themselves from it. They need to be reminded of it and sometimes all it takes is receiving a kind word or gesture. Thank you for making this world a kinder place with every word and every act!
A lot of what drives people to acts of malice is the circumstances around them. I truly believe that humans, as with all animals, can live with immense peace and love in their lives, if those circumstances are right. It's up to us to make them!
I know that if you serve any time, it will be time well spent .. The prison will be serving many vegan options & the vegan population will increase. You probably already know about the vegan prison experiment in California some years ago. Nonetheless, I hope we can accomplish everything without your having to be incarcerated.

These podcasts are filled with such love and kindness, but most of all, hope. I look forward to reading each and every one.
Thanks so much, Peggy! Those words mean a lot, as that's exactly what we're going for: hope.
The Green Pill was a great run. But I think we need something a little less conspiratorial, a little more fun, and a little more hopeful!
Thank you for all you are doing. Kindness, so important. Much more needed.
Indeed!

We will do our best, for sure! But the challenges we're facing in this case are quite severe.
