The cruelty is a symptom of the speciesism that underlies all animal exploitation: animal testing of course; but also the fur trade, animal agriculture, hunting, and many other forms of animal exploitation. It is the speciesism — the pernicious and pervasive belief that humans are somehow entitled to use and exploit our nonhuman relatives as we wish — that we must ultimately overcome. We need to be very clear that the abuse is only possible is because of the underlying problem of speciesism that is responsible for the enslavement, torture, and slaughter of hundreds of billions of sentient beings every year.
Right. Its not who or what any one of us would do something wrong to, its the wrongful act that needs to be corrected. "Thou shalt not kill." "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
