There has been lots ink spilled over the last few years about the threat — and perhaps opportunity — posed by the development of so-called Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), i.e., a human-level intelligence that can solve a general class of problems and thereby transform human society.
Re: opportunities and debilities that AI presents for animal liberation . . . Animal liberation is an expansion of social health-maintenance, beyond just humans; compassion as you say, the medical impulse. It is lateral relationship moving in where vertical domination held rule. This is a latter day outcome of learned civilization. So is AI. Both result from the experience and pursuit of freedom, exercise of freedom in ingenuity, method, interaction. AI has value _in relation to_ our learning, in past and future. There is mayhem going on in that someones like Musk or Trump or Thiel or Karp use AI to harm & subordinate lives seen as worthless (antichrist, shithole, nonwestern, etc). They plan an AI facilitated Gaza resort inside the Americas and the World. They want a limited number of rulers and subordinates, figured out with AI help. They are trying to drum up violent resistance in the US so they can justify internal outright war. They are overstepping against individuals seen as 'combatants' of Venezuela outside the US. A vision of a different future world impllied by animal liberation can put all this into its realistic perspective: Nero the topmost predator fiddling while the society of top predators burns. In their new Gaza, werethey going to relate and love eachother or just continue fiddling at eachother ....? AI can't change their tune unless they want to learn (not just 'Grokipedia'). AI can't obstruct the vision that Animal Liberation offers, either.
