It's the same story here in Canada. The ones who make public the cruelty taking place are charged and jailed, and the disgusting Big Ag Corps keep on doing what they do. We need to keep these images and discussions going, everywhere - social media, with friends and colleagues, etc. to ensure the stupidity of the Law (Blind as she is supposed to be but in these cases detrimental to a worthy verdict) is changed. We need to make people see - the meat you eat has been treated abominally, animals have been raped, kicked, thrown against the wall, scalded alive, skinned alive, prods into their brains while conscious, you name it, it's taking place BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. We need to be LOUD!!!

Sobeys is selling more free run/free range eggs than before, red meat consumption is going down -- we can see changes, slow but changing nevertheless.

They still kill the free range chickens, right?

Paul Goldring's avatar

Yes. But hopefully there is less cruelty before that. I think that's a small step forward. And the vast majority of people think eggs in moderation are good for them.

I certainly hope that changes. I understand the change comes slowly, but when I read about these trials which are such miscarriages of justice, I find it hard.

The video of the prosecutor's ridiculous comparison of sick pigs to dented cans of food is hysterical. It seems astounding that the jury didn't respond with audible groans and guffaws.

Indeed.

I think we would have to read the prosecutor's speech in context to be able to judge it.

The fight for animal rights is by far the most difficult of all battles in the social justice movement. Animal Rising has taken bold steps towards exposing the morally bereft and powerful MBR, backed by the UK government via tax dollars of hard-working citizens. I was shocked SHOCKED with the verdict. It was a sham court not unsimilar to those of tyrannical nations.

Over and over again, judges have prohibited defendants from presenting the motive for their crime, which was to rescue animals from an environment of routine animal cruelty.  How can anyone claim the defendants had a fair trial if they could not explain what their motive was?  What can be done to make the motive for the "crime" admissible evidence?

It's a basic failing of due process and democracy.

Is that the group your wife runs that was infiltrated and secretly recorded by a Daily Mail reporter?

This is so interesting. The law is imperfect and the ones who are righteous are penalized, while those who are cruel are not considered wrong. Sharing.

Sadly, it is usually the case that those who fight for justice are initially punished, and the oppressors are allowed to carry on their reprehensible conduct with impunity. It is only in the longer term that the freedom-fighters are vindicated and are judged to be on the right side of history--and more importantly, that they achieve their goals.

I posted a link to this article in my comment to Celia Farber's post about the trials and travails undergone by Nick Reiner, apparently at his father's hands, for a long time before he finally became homicidal and deranged-- https://celiafarber.substack.com/p/underbelly-nick-reiner-was-sent-to , was sent to survival camps in Utah by way of 'rehab.' Confidence in cruelty is how this is all striking me, and it isn't stopping shy of choking off the medical staff of the Veterans Affairs administration in a bid to render that private and profitable.

Only 20%I believe unfortunately. They said they'd be going 100% four years ago. I would think the cost of beef would lower consumption but I've read there are more eating meat. Maybe it's people turning to chicken. Tough to wait for people's ethics and morals to change.

I feel that, if the claimed purpose of the research is to advance the welfare of mankind, it will be extremely difficult to change the mindset of the general public.
