People are so uninformed and obtuse. If you show them the beagles and tell them what they’re forced to undergo, they’re horrified & wonder how a case like yours can be brought to court. The judge must be crooked to object to anything.
If you try & tell them about the routine torture and abuse of agricultural animals they turn away: "I buy cage-free chickens" or "These cows seem so contented" or "That sort of thing only happens to pigs in Asia".
But if you can force people to sit & watch cows and pigs being beaten and kicked for no reason, chicks being dropped into a macerator, they’ll cry, or become furious.
Why are we so blind and unempathetic until we’re forced to confront reality. It’s such a failure of the imagination and the heart.

Seldom these days do I meet people like you, and dare I say, especially men, willing to stand up for their beliefs, educate themselves in the ways you have to further the cause and stay the course with honor and heart. I have only joined this action since hearing about you and the beagles in March, though I was vaguely familiar before. I am a pure animal lover, perhaps activist at heart, but never truly in the position to act as so. Today, I have a beautiful beagle girl as part of my family, Poppy, formerly EEQ3, and I too tell her everyday, I will never let anyone hurt you again. I have been on this earth longer than I'd like before getting involved with what I should have long ago. For that I thank you as well. I too, have a substack and wrote about the beagles and will soon write about Poppy as well. Again - many thanks to you for opening doors, for the beagles, for people like me, for everyone who loves animals and especially for now, the doors you opened at Ridglan. Industry and people who refuse to bear witness to the harm we do to dogs in the name of outdated "research" alike hope this just goes away quietly.
But part of the power of this message is "what if it were your dog?" Abolishing experimentation on dogs is a non-partisan issue that people overwhelmingly support.
That was a powerful message you sent out this morning Wayne. I will definitely be sharing it. The more people who are made aware of the complete injustice that you are being subjected to the better.
