The shift from facts to narratives in that second trial is fascinating. Most advocacy I've seen gets bogged down trying to win on data when juries are realy looking for moral clarity. Tom's Ukraine story worked because it showed character without being preachy about it, which is way harder to pull off than just listing harms. In my expereince organizing around similar issues the storytelling approach works way better than the spreadsheet method.

Wayne is a good writer.

Aw, thank you! I've had lots of writer's block lately, so I appreciate this!

The little beagle—identified only by a serial code, #0M21029—did not know why. But every week, the vivisectors at MBR Acres would drag him from his cage to drain blood for their experiments

Wow. This is beyond horrifying.

Thanks, Wayne. Inspiring.

Thank you for speaking about the suffering of these innocent animals 🙏🏼💔

#0M21029 did not die. On a cold winter morning, just days before Christmas, #0M21029 was saved

This. A dog reduced to a number. No name. A commodity. A thing to torture.

The opening. So evocative. So visceral. The plight of this dog from their point of view. We need children's books showing how animals suffer.

The judge ruled before trial that “no defendant may give evidence of the conditions” at MBR

S White's avatar

This boggles my mind- how is that legal?

Wayne Hsiung's avatar

It's not. But judges are some combination of incompetent and corrupt. :(

Kennedy has aligned his department with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Justice to address animal cruelty, which includes a "strike force" to hold puppy mills accountable for mistreating animals. This initiative aims to address the issue of breeding operations that keep dogs in confined, unsanitary conditions.

Kennedy is not just interested in stopping labs. He is going after puppy breeders. He would be horrified if informed about Ridglan and can and may help .he can absolutely step in, do an investigation, and release these dogs, immediately putting an emergency order in place to stop Ridgeland selling dogs.

He may hold Ridglan criminally responsible. He can investigate why Madison States failed to act.

I think we should start a massive effort to get his attention and help.

It's comical that Ridglan thinks in this political environment Trump's FBI would side with them. Trump closed down a dog lab.

Don't rely on me for morality, but a moral tale commences, while a race to the bottom finishes. In the movie Oppenheimer at an hour 26, Niels Bohr tells Oppie " the world is not prepared"-- https://archive.org/download/oppenheimer.-2023.1080p.mp-4 , 'mp4.' As far as the F.B.I., peace advocate Scott Ritter reports some trouble now that involves them-- https://scottritter.substack.com/p/de-banked . Might we say the rescued beagles can now enjoy a sense of repose from the harsh realities presented by a ruthless world, perhaps similar to that portrayed in the ideal moments at Charles Xavier's Academy in the X-Men movies? Not for them to worry that their government regards them as statistics with monetary value?-- https://journalistsresource.org/economics/value-statistical-life-kip-viscusi/ . Neither to be bothered that University of Texas professor Thomas O. McGarity in 2012 described our regulatory agencies in "Administrative law as blood sport: policy erosion in a highly partisan age?"

Hubert h Humprey Building. Where Kennedy office is located. A fantastic place for a POW WOW. Don't call it a protest call it a POW Wow because it means we are on his side on this and asking for him to step in and rescue these dogs.

The amount of media attention given his stature and this being DC where the recent federal protests just occured with massive media attention would be enormous. Would get this on national stage.

Kennedy does want to help. He had said so. I really think doing this before the actual rescue shows intent to exhaust all avenues to get help. Would he ignore it given his recent very public statement to stop.puppy mill cruelty?

You can easily get 10x as many to go to a POW WOW. And yes you can call it a POW wow because we let non indigenous people to attend our pow wows. You just need one native American

I can get other tribal members too. And we could bring a big drum. We have dances that celebrate animals. We imitate animals and showcase our deep respect for animals. I could try to get other tribal members to come with me. I will talk to some people. Please consider this. I really want to push Kennedy to close Ridglan and turn the tide to prosecute them for once.

Wayne, we in Britain are currently petitioning to get the Hell Hole otherwise known as MBR closed down for GOOD and all these precious babies adopted/rehomed/rehabilitated. I have read about the heartbreaking tests done on these beautiful babies and bawled my eyes out. And i am truly sickened that beagles are chosen because of their sweet, trusting, vulnerable nature 😞 this WHOLE antiquated system needs to be brought down now, and left as a stain on history. I wish you ALL the luck in the world with your rescue, I would join myself if I wasn't in Britain. But I have put my name forward to Animal Rising, the activists who saved beagle puppies from a life of torture, to adopt one of these precious babies WHEN the day comes that MBR is closed down! Because the public is waking up, in disgust, to animal needless, senseless vivisection and torture!
